Many diners start with traditional Babaganush or perhaps the Kashk Bademson made of sizzling fried eggplant in a rich tomato sauce.
Visit Ravagh for an authentic dining experience that takes your tastebuds on a trip halfway around the world-without ever having to leave Manhattan!
Kashk-Bademjan—Cooked eggplant in our homemade tomato sauce topped with yogurt
Sambuseh—Crispy fried dumplings stuffed with chickpeas and herbs; served with a tangy chunky sauce
House Special Salad—Romaine lettuce, topped with natural herbs, cucumbers, tomatoes and onions; served with our house vinaigrette
Lamb Chops Kebab—Marinated chargrilled lamb chops
Banghalee Polo with Maheeche—Shank of lamb simmered with herbs and garlic in tomato sauce; served with green rice
Albaloo Polo with Jujeh—Pieces of Cornish hen served with sour cherries mixed with basmati rice
Amazing, love their sultani kebob!

I know the price of beef is high but when they are giving you 5 pieces of meat with a $15 order of kebab you are going to upset your customers. Adding three (three?) grilled onions to pad it out isn't going to help your cause.

Best Persian food in town, there is no competition.
Clean, Lean and super delicious.
Portions are decent and presentation is traditional.
Lamp Chops and Lamb Shank are my favorite.

Used to love this place, but last night's food was terrible. Portion was so small (5 pieces of meat for $15!), ice cold, and bland.
There are definitely better restaurants around.

Incredible authentic Persian food very fast delivery and they go above and beyond-- sent so much food, extra bread, salads with dressing. Great food and a great value.

I ordered the Salad Oliveh and the Ash Reshteh . The order arrived within the stated delivery window. The Salad Oliveh was fresh and delicious; I really like the mix of chicken and potato. The Ash Reshteh was completely inedible; perhaps it had suffered during the delivery, but everything was mushy and had horrible mouthfeel.

The food is always fresh, and the portions are average - big which is great. I typically only ever get their kabobs but we've ordered from here for company lunch and it was all fantastic!

Took 1h40 minutes to arrive. i order Shrimp Kebob. Not amazing. Not worth the wait. To be fair, the best thing was big and good amount of shrimp. But not an amazing put together plate. No refinement.

I gave only one star because it won't allow me to rate a zero. This is my first review because I think I should warn people who might be fooled by their five-star reviews. I ordered shrimp kebob as lunch and I was totally surprised by the 'black' tomato and onion which came in a huge piece. The tails of all the shrimps were burned to black 'ashes' and I doubt the miserable-looking shrimps had any good sauce on them because they tasted just terrible! Anyone who might be interested in ordering their shrimp kebob, please think twice!

I've ordered 3 times. The first 2 times were great! The tomatoes in the tabouli salad were overripe the third time I ordered. But I'll probably order again!

Posted a year ago by Yasaman V.
overall i thought it was good, but not great. i'd give it 3.5/5 stars: the hummus was tasty, but the pita was a little bit stale and it tasted like it'd been sitting in plastic wrap too long; the lamb shank was pretty good, but the rice it came with left something to be desired (the mushrooms tasted like oil, etc.)

Incredible chicken and beef kebabs, best roasted mushrooms and vegetables I have tasted. Wholesome, generous portions. Good quick delivery, fulfills orders accurately, does not nickel & dime customers.

The customer service here is great, very helpful and friendly. They called me to clarify a few things about the order, and the woman I spoke with was polite and professional. The delivery was fairly fast, only took about 30 minutes and the food was still hot and fresh. Great experience ordering here, I'll definitely be ordering again.

I ordered from here twice. The first time it took maybe 90 minutes to get my food, but I figured it was a fluke and ordered from here again in the middle of the afternoon, so not a busy time. My food never came. I called and they said it was nearly there. Finally, after two hours, they admitted that they didn't know where it was - maybe dropped at someone else's apartment? - and they'd need to remake the order. I cancelled. I liked their rice the first time I ordered from there, but two bad delivery experiences in a row means I'm not trying to order from here again.

The delivery guy didnt bother knocking on my door or calling me. He just left my food with my doorman and left. Repeated calls to the restaurant did not fix the issue and it wasnt until 1.5 hours later after (the initial estimate was up to 40 min for delivery) when I demanded a refund that they told me what the delivery driver did (and refused the refund).

As far as Persian food in other cities goes, Ravagh is not that great, but the competition in NY is mostly worse, so I wish them well. The Ghormeh Sabzi (herbed stew) is a good value for the price, and the plainness of the rice goes well with it. Order other items with caution if you're getting delivery. The kebabs might be much better when they're right out of the kitchen but Persian food generally doesn't travel well. One wishes their rice to have more butter, more saffron, and some rosewater or other aromatics in it. Instead it tastes only of water, probably a result of boiling and straining the rice (discarding the cooking liquid).

the previous review may be an error. Ravagh sells Persian food not Indian food. I am Persian and love the kebabs as well as the salmon kebab and vegetarian kebabs here. Everything I have had is excellent especially the basmati rice. The vegetarian kebab is nice because they grill all the veggies. They are fantastic. Enjoy!

Additionally, the packaging of the food is outstanding.

Posted a year ago by Zubin B.
Persians know how to cook rice, which I really appreciate. That and the eggplant appetizer were enough to warrant 2 stars. I cannot recommend the chicken with pomegranate sauce (dry, even though it was drenched in sauce) or the chopped salad ( just plain boring). The assortment of Persian desserts was horrible! What a ripoff for something that's basically just flour, sugar and oil. It went in the garbage. I will not reorder from Ravagh.

Consistently high quality food. My regular order of Khoresh Fesejan and Koobideh Kebobs always leaves me satisfied. It's not cheap but you get what you pay for. The chicken chunks are always flavorful and the beef is tender and juicy. It's rare to complain about a delivery place giving you too much food but the amount of rice they give you with your order can be a bit of overkill. When that's the only "complaint" you know you've had a good meal.

You can't go wrong with Ravagh. They are always consistent and never fail to please. If you like poultry then order the Jujeh Kebab which is a cut up cornish game hen. It is full of flavor, never dry and perfectly cooked. The perfect sides would consist of salad Shirazi and mast khiar. Trust me, once you order it you will never order from anywhere else again!

We've ordered from here several times and the food is usually good and arrives promptly. This time, however, we waited an hour and a half (after being told 25-40 minutes). We called after 50 minutes and were told the order was on its way, which was obviously not true. Once the food arrived it was dry and tasteless. I spoke to someone at the restaurant and she was apologetic and offered us a complimentary dessert next time we order, however I'm not sure we will risk ordering from them again.

Seamless should do something about their ratings. I ordered the chicken with pomegranate. It was very dry and needed flavor. The hummus was ok and the eggplant with sour cream was ok too. The pita was awful. Tasted worse than store bought. I won't order from here again.

I was hesitant to order from here because of the poor delivery reviews, but I had to opposite problem: the food came way too quickly and was lukewarm when it arrived, leading me to believe that it had been previously prepared and then reheated. Even if it had been fresh, I wouldn't consider calling this good food. Persian food is my favorite cuisine and this was really disappointing.

Always the BEST! I loooove the Khoresh Gheimeh, ordered the same thing from a different Persian restaurant in the area and will never make that mistake again. Ravagh is absolutely the best. The kabobs, all the rices, the appetizers, Bademjoon, Ghormeh Sabzi...are all delicious. And make sure you get the spicy green chutney sauce!

The food arrived over an hour late and was cold. I called to complain but they didn't seem to care. Maybe its not worth ordering over the weekend as it doesn't look like they can handle the volume of orders.

They took forever to reach and the food tasted like sawdust in oil. The chicken was smelly and chewy and tough.

So I really liked the Hummus the first time I ordered, but ran out of Pita. So I thought, okay, I will just order some extra pita. Nope, couldn't find it in the menu. So I thought, okay, I will just get 2 orders of hummus, and that will give me extra pita. NOPE! I got double the hummus, but same amount of pita. Wow, such a waste of money. Never ordering from hear again.

I am Persian and for me to give this place a 5-star rating, that means it has to stand up to my mom's cooking. While mom still does it best, Ravagh makes delicious Iranian food with overwhelming portions. I even love that you can get a big side of Zereshk Pollo for only $3. The grilled meat selections are excellent as well. I also recommend the Ghormeh Sabzi. This is a hard dish to get right. They do it right... they do it so right. :x

Ravagh is an old favorite. I recently ordered again after being away from the area for a few months. It's just as great as ever. All the meat dishes are delicious, though the moist and fragrant jujeh kebab tends to be my favorite despite the hassle of eating around the bones. If you haven't tried their sour cherry rice you're missing out. It's remarkable.

The quality of the food (especially the meat) is good and it's very tasty. Love their rice dishes and the pickles/olives appetizer. Honestly, I've yet to eat something I didn't like here. The delivery time is reasonable. You can eat healthy and well at the same time, what's not to like?

Nice brook trout. Delivery guy called 9 times over the course of 4 minutes while I was on the other line; kept hanging up on voicemail and ringing again. Rudely shrugged and walked out the door when I complained.

This is the biggest rip-off/scam ever. Ravagh rating is definitely inflated. The food is reminiscent of cheap italian food (with way too much sauce). Nothing was authentically persian. The heartburn-inducing grape leaves came close but were so sour we almost couldn't eat them! The stuffed pepper - one tiny, lemon sized, burnt pepper with tons of sauce that looked straight out of a jar (ragu, perhaps?). One SLICE of eggplant was our second appetizer - again covered with an abominable amount of cheap, watery, vodka looking sauce. Boring cucumber salad with not a hint of any persian flavor/spice. Could have stopped at the local halal cart for that one. To close, I was quite satified with my Coke and my dinner companion also enjoyed her Diet Coke - no thanks to Ravagh!!!
Posted 5 years ago by Kelly R.
I used to order from here all the time...I would get the lamb, eggplant and tomatoe stew and it was excellent. I don't know what happened...I ordered it last week and it was horrible. Instead of the nicely seasoned tomatoe sauce (same sauce as lamb shank dish), it came in this oily sauce and the lamb was terribly gamey tasting. I couldn't eat it. I called the restaurant to ask what happened and to make sure they sent me the right thing. The swore they did, but offered to cook me up another batch and send it over. I was sooo hoping that it was just a mistake and my favorite stew would arrive. Wrong....brought me the same exact oily mess. So sad.
That being said...I do love their cherry rice, hummus, lamb shank, and eggplant appetizer. I imagine I will order from them again, but my favorite stew is a no-go from now on, considering they obviously forgot how to make it.

When a persian restaurant serves over-cooked lamb you know you're in trouble. Mine was over-cooked. The rice was cold and seemed like it had been sitting out for a while. The stuffed pepper was good, as were the pickled veggies. But as an Arab girl, I judge my people's restaurants on lamb. It's Middle East Cooking 101, a basic. And they really didn't get it right. I wouldn't order from here again.

For the price the portions are too small. The dishes are nothing special. I recommend trying other places for your middle eastern fix.

I love the food - it's great! But - why are they always out of what I order (Stuffed Peppers and Lamb Shank)?

This is my first review and the only reason I felt compelled to write this is because how terrible my meal from Ravagh was. They charge $3 for a side of white sauce?!? Is that a joke? I come from a town with a large Iranian population, so I know what good Persian food is. The fact that this establishment was given 5 stars by anyone is laughable. The joujeh kebab (chicken) isn't even edible. It is greasy and mostly bone. I will now sit and endulge on my $15 rice, lettuce and mediocre hummus platter.

The food was delicious; portions were on the smaller side but tasty nonetheless. I enjoyed their stew.

Solid quality. Super fast delivery. Grilled vegetables a bit burned.

Entree arrived cold; used too much salt for my taste. Eggplant appetizer was bland; assorted desert treats was good.

Delivery time was alright, but the quality of food was not satisfactory. I ordered the lamb shish kebob dinner - meat was overcooked and dry, the vegetables were all burnt, and the portion of rice was mediocre. This place does live up to the standards I would expect for Persian food. Try Akdeniz instead, you will be more than satisfied. Even the bread there is amazing. Also ordered cucumber/yogurt sauce. Very delicious and great portion, only one piece of bread included unless you ask for more in special instructions. Overall, not worth the money, go with something else is my recommendation.

Ok, but they've been cutting corners.
They used to serve the stew w/ cucumber/tomato salad, as well as rice, and instead they gave me a double portion of rice.
Prices have also recently increased.

I'm Persian and I love, love the food here. It's really the only option in the city. BUT the service is the worst. Even McDonald's has better service. It does not matter if you order take out or go in the spot, it's just plain awful. They are always on the late site. Once I waited an hour and a half.

Food was bland, arrived cold, and I found more than one hair in my plate. The stuffed pepper was quite good, but I was disappointed with main entree.

Ordered stuffed PEEPERS -- received only ONE with a pound of rice and no vegtables! What a rip off --- $11.00 for one stuffed pepper. I could have odered the Stuffed Pepper Appitzer for only $5.00 and gotten the same thing without a pound of rice!

I ordered 3 items, one of which was the panir sabzi appetizer. This appetizer comes with Feta cheese but it was delivered without it. I called to request my Feta and was put on hold for 5 minutes. After 5 minutes I hung up and called again. She apologized and immediately put me on hold again. She then asked me whether I wanted a credit for next time or if I wanted it to be sent out to me. I wanted my feta cheese right away so i could enjoy my dinner. She took my name and address, asked if she could put me on hold and then hung up on me. I called back the third time and they took down my address again and then told me they didnt have any feta cheese. They told me they would give me a credit and I told them that a credit was not nescessary because I would not be ordering from them.
If a restaurant does not have what you order, then they should alert you so that you can make another selection. It isn't okay to charge someone for something you cannot deliver.

Absolutely fantastic food! Always fresh! Super authentic!

The food is very good but it often arrives late and it is cold or it has not been packed properly and the sauce leaks all over the bag. The service is terrible.
