I love this place. I order 2-3 times a week since I discovered it. I would give it five stars except they NEVER get an order right. Finally decided to write a review after my request for their green hot sauce (which is phenomenal) was ignored.

I've definitely had better experiences ordering from them on the weekends. Being an Iranian I can vouch for the quality. They've got a mean akhbar mashti (Persian Ice Cream) as well. Highly recommend.

Food was ok but somewhat bland. Considering how many 5-star ratings it got I just expected something more unique.

Prices at Ravagh are steep, but you will wind up with enough food for 2 meals. Food travels well and portions are generous. I only wish it was a little less expensive, but I rationalize it by the quantity. Yum!

The food wasnt the most tasty i have ever had but if you put alot of sauce on it ..it was pretty good. HUUge quantity and hell of a deal for 12 $ ...plus free salad

Meat was tender but tasteless

I could get better chicken over rice from a street cart. And, there was barely any white sauce included with the order.

I am Persian and for me to give this place a 5-star rating, that means it has to stand up to my mom's cooking. While mom still does it best, Ravagh makes delicious Iranian food with overwhelming portions. I even love that you can get a big side of Zereshk Pollo for only $3. The grilled meat selections are excellent as well. I also recommend the Ghormeh Sabzi. This is a hard dish to get right. They do it right... they do it so right. :x

Rude person from the restaurant called me to tell me an item i ordered was not available. I asked to be credited, she told me to call seamlessweb. I asked that the item be replaced with something else, she snickered at me. Horrible service.
Posted 8 months ago by Alex Z.
Stale pita bread, and the rest wasn't much better. Order of soup and a drink came with knife and fork, but no spoon and no straw. Everything in separate paper bags, too. Weird.

Ravagh is an old favorite. I recently ordered again after being away from the area for a few months. It's just as great as ever. All the meat dishes are delicious, though the moist and fragrant jujeh kebab tends to be my favorite despite the hassle of eating around the bones. If you haven't tried their sour cherry rice you're missing out. It's remarkable.

Pretty good Persian food that delivers pretty quickly and the food arrives nice and warm. The prices are pretty good too for the amount of food you get.

The quality of the food (especially the meat) is good and it's very tasty. Love their rice dishes and the pickles/olives appetizer. Honestly, I've yet to eat something I didn't like here. The delivery time is reasonable. You can eat healthy and well at the same time, what's not to like?

In terms of delivery quality, flavor and presentation I don't think I have been able to find anything better for Middle Eastern/Persian in NYC. For under about $20 you can get a kebab platter with salad and pita and a small appetizer and the quality and flavor is fantastic. Consistent with the product and packaged so nicely you could present it if friends were over!

Food was so so. Not a lot of meat - only five lamb cubes for $11. For that price, it should be two skewers, not one. It was also not very flavorful and luke warm. I'm suspicious of the other high ratings.

The service is awful. I've waited over an hour and my food still hasn't arrived. I called the restaurant twice and they just keep saying the food is on its way. Not even an apology or an admission that they screwed up. The manager should be fired.

This place is absolutely awesome! Great salads and all of the kebob and stew dishes have been perfect. Can get everything with grilled vegetables if you are watching carbs, free of charge, and they taste great. One of my favorite spots to order from.

My wife and I have regularly ordered the Lamb Shank from Ravagh for close to two years and it has usually been delicious and good portion sized. Still, the last two orders we have placed have gone down in the quality of the Lamb meat and the portion sizes have gotten considerably smaller. My wife and I still consider Ravagh a good restaurant and a good value - but we used to think it was an amazing restaurant and an incredible value... Hope they bring up their standards back to where they were - we certainly miss that lamb shank dish :-)

This is the biggest rip-off/scam ever. Ravagh rating is definitely inflated. The food is reminiscent of cheap italian food (with way too much sauce). Nothing was authentically persian. The heartburn-inducing grape leaves came close but were so sour we almost couldn't eat them! The stuffed pepper - one tiny, lemon sized, burnt pepper with tons of sauce that looked straight out of a jar (ragu, perhaps?). One SLICE of eggplant was our second appetizer - again covered with an abominable amount of cheap, watery, vodka looking sauce. Boring cucumber salad with not a hint of any persian flavor/spice. Could have stopped at the local halal cart for that one. To close, I was quite satified with my Coke and my dinner companion also enjoyed her Diet Coke - no thanks to Ravagh!!!

I used to order from here all the time...I would get the lamb, eggplant and tomatoe stew and it was excellent. I don't know what happened...I ordered it last week and it was horrible. Instead of the nicely seasoned tomatoe sauce (same sauce as lamb shank dish), it came in this oily sauce and the lamb was terribly gamey tasting. I couldn't eat it. I called the restaurant to ask what happened and to make sure they sent me the right thing. The swore they did, but offered to cook me up another batch and send it over. I was sooo hoping that it was just a mistake and my favorite stew would arrive. Wrong....brought me the same exact oily mess. So sad. That being said...I do love their cherry rice, hummus, lamb shank, and eggplant appetizer. I imagine I will order from them again, but my favorite stew is a no-go from now on, considering they obviously forgot how to make it.

Fresh ingredients. Light, yet flavorful. Ordered Cornish Chicken Kabob with side of rice, grilled trout with side of grilled veggies, and grilled steak strip and ground beef kabob. Both Chicken and Beef were very tender. Veggies were done al dente. Fish on the dry side. Will definitely order from Ravagh again.

The food is sublime, fresh and delicious and cooked to perfection. The delivery man was not happy to travel to 14th and 9th Ave although it appeared in my Seamless Web queue and he made it quite apparent how unhappy he was. I didn't need that to ruin a perfect meal.

Posted 3 years ago by Robert P.
When a persian restaurant serves over-cooked lamb you know you're in trouble. Mine was over-cooked. The rice was cold and seemed like it had been sitting out for a while. The stuffed pepper was good, as were the pickled veggies. But as an Arab girl, I judge my people's restaurants on lamb. It's Middle East Cooking 101, a basic. And they really didn't get it right. I wouldn't order from here again.

I love the food - it's great! But - why are they always out of what I order (Stuffed Peppers and Lamb Shank)?
Posted 3 years ago by Kristopher L.
salad was old, lettuce had brown edges, chicken did not taste fresh. asked for green rice as a side order and they mixed it with some other rice
Posted 3 years ago by nicola f.
This is my first review and the only reason I felt compelled to write this is because how terrible my meal from Ravagh was. They charge $3 for a side of white sauce?!? Is that a joke? I come from a town with a large Iranian population, so I know what good Persian food is. The fact that this establishment was given 5 stars by anyone is laughable. The joujeh kebab (chicken) isn't even edible. It is greasy and mostly bone. I will now sit and endulge on my $15 rice, lettuce and mediocre hummus platter.

Posted 4 years ago by Marilyn O.
Delivery time was alright, but the quality of food was not satisfactory. I ordered the lamb shish kebob dinner - meat was overcooked and dry, the vegetables were all burnt, and the portion of rice was mediocre. This place does live up to the standards I would expect for Persian food. Try Akdeniz instead, you will be more than satisfied. Even the bread there is amazing. Also ordered cucumber/yogurt sauce. Very delicious and great portion, only one piece of bread included unless you ask for more in special instructions. Overall, not worth the money, go with something else is my recommendation.

Ok, but they've been cutting corners. They used to serve the stew w/ cucumber/tomato salad, as well as rice, and instead they gave me a double portion of rice. Prices have also recently increased.

I'm Persian and I love, love the food here. It's really the only option in the city. BUT the service is the worst. Even McDonald's has better service. It does not matter if you order take out or go in the spot, it's just plain awful. They are always on the late site. Once I waited an hour and a half.

I ordered 3 items, one of which was the panir sabzi appetizer. This appetizer comes with Feta cheese but it was delivered without it. I called to request my Feta and was put on hold for 5 minutes. After 5 minutes I hung up and called again. She apologized and immediately put me on hold again. She then asked me whether I wanted a credit for next time or if I wanted it to be sent out to me. I wanted my feta cheese right away so i could enjoy my dinner. She took my name and address, asked if she could put me on hold and then hung up on me. I called back the third time and they took down my address again and then told me they didnt have any feta cheese. They told me they would give me a credit and I told them that a credit was not nescessary because I would not be ordering from them. If a restaurant does not have what you order, then they should alert you so that you can make another selection. It isn't okay to charge someone for something you cannot deliver.

I was amazed. The ratings truly reflect how wonderful the food is. I am not persian or anything close, but have a flair for exotic food. I ordered the lamb kabobs. The lamb was tender and juicy and came with beautiful and fresh grilled vegetables. The salad ordered with chopped tomato, onion, and cucumber was outstanding - very refreshing. The yogurt sauce was exceptional with the perfect amount of garlic and spices. Baklava - wow. Will not hesitate to order again.
